An original non-electric 1850s structure in southern Grant County Kentucky, where you can spend a relaxing day, evening, or weekend in the country. You'll feel as though you've stepped back in time when you visit this cabin. Experience what it might have been like in the 1850s with oil lamps for lighting, a wood burning fireplace, and lots of fragrant candles.

Deer & wild turkeys are quite plentiful in our area.

For the city folks you might enjoy our neighbor's horses, and large herd of Holstein cows.

Each season has it's own appeal. Springtime is beautiful with the redbuds and wild flowers. Summer is special for the children as they skip rocks in the creek, chase the fireflies at night, and spend the days hiking by the creek or on the hills. Autumn brings such beautiful foliage with an abundance of Maple and Oak trees in our area.

If you can live without electricity for one night, you are going to love this place.

We love to have guests, but we want you to be comfortable too. Since the cabin is an original 1850s structure, it isn't insulated. We don't recommend spending the night if temps are below 30degrees or so. We especially discourage bringing small children in the Wintertime.

I always light the heater a few hours before your arrival, and it does have a fireplace. However, it's mostly for atmosphere. Most of your heat will go up the chimney.

Please keep all of this in mind. Watch your weather forecast before calling for a resvervation. If possible, call at least two days in advance in Winter, other times of the year, sometimes requires reservations 2 weeks in advance. Thank you, and hope to meet lots of new guests in 2008. What We Do

Our cabin is a country getaway in rural Grant County Kentucky. It sits on 6 acres, with a creek flowing behind the cabin, and hammocks setup in the Walnut grove for your peaceful, relaxing stay.

There's one double bed in the loft, and a sofa bed downstairs. Plus enough room for kids to bring their sleeping bags.

We not only offer overnight stays, but welcome day trips for schools, churches, & organizations.

Would you like to learn about wild plants our forefathers used for food and medicines? We offer workshops on the uses of wild plants and herbs. Other workshops available are chair weaving, and basketry classes.
